Dr Louise Mansell

Chartered Clinical Psychologist

BSc Psychology, Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Psychology,
Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, University of Manchester

I have been working as a Clinical Psychologist in children’s mental health within the NHS for over 11 years.

I have a particular interest and expertise in working with anxiety, trauma, and attachment, with regards to the impact on early brain development. In addition, I have a great deal of experience in behaviour management of children. I enjoy working with parents and those around children, to empower them to understand, manage and support the child’s developmental need to express emotions.

Throughout my career to date, I have been committed to providing a supportive, compassionate, empowering and effective service to all of those families and children I have been fortunate enough to meet. Any therapy I will recommend will always have a strong theory or evidence base supporting it’s use.

In addition, I have been particular driven to ensure that children and families get the correct support they need, as quickly and effectively as possible. In support of this, I led on the development of an innovative way to ensure families and children get the best possible advice and care plan in a timely manner. This approach was widely credited by both families and clinicians, and was presented at The British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies in July 2017.

I completed my Doctorate Training at the University of Manchester in 2007-2010, following the completion of a Diploma in Applied Psychology in 2005-2007, and Degree in Psychology at University of Lancaster in 2000-2003. I integrate a range of psychological models within my work to meet the individual needs of the child. I have special training and interest in the use of, Attachment and Neuroscience, Theraplay and principles of Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, CBT and Motivational Interviewing.

I have recently felt more able to provide the type of service I believe is the best for families, children and those around them as an independent provider. Therefore I co-created Nurture-Psychology Service in 2016, as a not-for-profit social enterprise service, which prides itself on delivering the most informative, expert driven, effective, creative compassionate and empowering service it can for young people and those who care for them.
